Court: Harris Can't Be Sued In CCS Attendance Data Scandal

Columbus City Schools

A state appeals court says former Columbus City Schools Superintendent Gene Harris may not sued in the recent attendance data-scrubbing scandal. The court yesterday said Harris may not be held liable in civil court for the administrators who changed attendance numbers to manipulate the district's performance ratings. The parent of a student at Medina Middle School sued Harris, the school board, and other administrators, claiming data changes harmed his son because making the school appear better deprived students of the help afforded for failing schools.
