The former Columbus City Schools official at the heart of the district's data-rigging scandal told investigators yesterday he created a monster. Steve Tankovich testified yesterday at Linden-McKinley STEM Academy Principal Tiffany Chavers' termination hearing, saying he told principals how and when to change the data, but they went beyond what was allowed. Chavers is fighting to keep her job after she allegedly changed student data to improve the school's test scores. Tankovich has been convicted of felony attempted tampering with records. Former regional executive director Michael Dodds declined to testify, citing his Fifth Amendment rights.
