Coleman Talks About Education And Changes In Columbus City Schools

After voters in 2012 defeated the Columbus City Schools levy that Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman championed, Coleman proposed the creation of a cabinet-level Education Department to improve public and private education in the city.

In 2014 the Department was officially created, with former Columbus Education Association president Rhonda Johnson named to lead it. In our annual end of the year interview with the Mayor, Jim Letizia asked Coleman if the department achieved any tangible results this year.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
