Columbus ONG Unit's Trip To West Africa Canceled

wikipedia

A Columbus-based Ohio National Guard unit's planned mission to West Africa to help control the Ebola outbreak in the region has been canceled. Guard officials say because of the successful efforts of civilian entities in West Africa over the past few months, the 16th Engineer Brigade and other guard units initially considered for deployment last November will not have to go. Ebola has sickened more than 21 thousand people, the vast majority in West Africa, killing more than 86 hundred. The Defense Department is now backing more than 10 thousand civilian responders.
