Petition Flaw Keeps One Columbus Mayoral Candidate Off May Ballot

It appears there will be one fewer candidate on the May ballot in the Columbus mayoral race.  Franklin County Board of Elections officials say a "fatal flaw" in James Ragland's petitions will keep him off the ballot in the non-partisan May primary.  At issue is a non-Columbus resident who is part of Ragland's nominating committee. Ragland once served as an aide to former City Council member Charleta Tavares. As expected, Franklin County Democrats voted yesterday to endorse Columbus City Council President Andy Ginther in the race. Ginther was already endorsed by Mayor Michael Coleman. Franklin County Sheriff Zach Scott is also running as a Democrat. Former Columbus School Board member Terry Boyd is running on the Republican side.
