Hundreds of firefighters from Columbus and other communities took shifts in Cincinnati this morning, to allow queen city firefighters to mourn the loss of a colleague.
They came to pay their respects to Cincinnati firefighter Daryl Gordon. He died after falling down an empty elevator shaft at a burning apartment building last Thursday. Cincinnati Firefighters Union president Matt Alter:
"Rest in peace, our mentor, our friend, our brother - Fire Apparatus Operator Daryl Gordon. Job well done, Daryl. We'll take it from here. Stay safe."
From Downtown Cincinnati, dozens of emergency vehicles followed the Engine carrying Gordon's casket to the cemetery for burial. There, Gordon received his final call.
