Blaze That Killed Cincinnati Firefighter Started On Unattended Stove

Cincinnati Fire Department

Cincinnati Fire investigators have determined the March 26 apartment building fire that led to a firefighter's death started on an unattended stovetop. Investigators say food and vegetable oil left on a kitchen stove in one unit ignited. 54-year-old Daryl Gordon died after falling down an elevator shaft while attempting to rescue tenants.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
