The Ohio Board of Education has picked eight finalists for the state superintendent's job. 44 candidates were recommended by a search firm. The finalists include Robert Sommers, Governor John Kasich's former education adviser, and Paolo DeMaria former state budget director and chief policy adviser to former Governor Bob Taft. Other finalists include Tina Thomas-Manning, the superintendent of the Reynoldsburg City Schools. Interviews are expected to begin next month. It's not clear when the winning candidate will be chosen.
