Two OBE Members Say Request For Charter School Evaluation Probe Improperly Blocked

education.ohio.gov

Two Ohio Board of Education members who requested an independent investigation of the Ohio Department of Education's charter oversight office claim their proposal was improperly blocked. Stephanie Dodd and A.J. Wagner say the blocking of their resolution and halting of debate earlier this week violates procedural rules. Wagner says he'll seek to revive the proposal next month or craft an updated version.  Seven board members are pushing for an outside investigation of the Office of School Choice and former director David Hansen, who resigned after admitting he altered evaluations of charter school sponsors to cast them in a more favorable light. Hansen is a former charter school employee. His wife works on the presidential campaign of Republican Ohio Governor John Kasich.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
