Newly-released OSU campus police records show several students were drinking for hours before last year's Mirror Lake jump in which a student died. 22-year-old Austin Singletary died November 25. The Franklin County coroner said Singletary died of head and neck injuries and had a blood-alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit. The records were obtained by the Associated Press through an open-records request. Students at the jump said Singletary was scared, but jumped because of intoxication and peer pressure. The school and its student government have taken steps to end the traditional jump.
