Local Judge Says State Ballot Access Law Is Constitutional

A Franklin County Judge says the 2013 state law that imposed stronger criteria for minor political parties to reach and maintain ballot status is constitutional.   The Libertarian Party of Ohio plans to appeal. A similar challenge it filed in federal court was dismissed for lack of jurisdiction. An appeal failed.  Libertarians maintain the law effectively eliminated candidates from 2014 primary ballots and unfairly disadvantaged third parties.
