Columbus Police Report Third Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting Since June

Columbus police shot and killed a murder suspect who police officials say was seen with a gun in his jacket before he ran and was ordered to stop in a confrontation with officers. Officers caught up to 20-year-old Jacquarius Robinson Friday behind a home in the 13 hundred block of Knollwood Drive. Police say a handgun was recovered. No officers were hurt. Robinson was black. Police haven't said whether more than one officer fired or disclosed the race of any officers involved. Robinson was suspected of fatally shooting 21-year-old Damion Wade early Friday morning in an argument at an apartment complex on Fountainview Court. Columbus police have shot 14 people this year. Three people, all African-American, have been killed by police since June. Tensions are high in the city in the wake of the deaths of Tyre King and Henry Green. Activists are planning a demonstration at City Hall next week calling for independent investigations of those shootings, as well as changes in city anti-crime programs.
