A federal judge has issued a stay in the January execution of an Ohio death row inmate and two others scheduled to die in 2017. The stay comes amid a challenge of a state law shielding the names of the companies that provide the state with lethal injection drugs. The stay could be lifted if a federal appeals court hands down a ruling in the related challenge before the January 12 execution of Ronald Phillips. The Ohio Attorney General's office is deciding whether or not to appeal.
