Columbus could be a hub for a new, high-speed transportation option. The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission says the city is one of ten finalists for the Hyperloop Midwest route that would run nearly 500 miles from Pittsburgh to Chicago. The Hyperloop would move people and goods between Columbus and Chicago within 29 minutes, and between Columbus and Pittsburgh within 18 minutes. Hyperloop uses electricity and magnets to transport people and goods at high-speeds in pods moving through tunnels above or below ground. Financing and local site locations have yet to be determined.
