Number Of Human Trafficking Investigations Rose In Ohio Last Year

The Ohio Attorney General's office says investigations of human trafficking cases rose last year to the highest level since the state began keeping track of those numbers in 2013.

Authorities investigated 202 human trafficking cases last year, up 50 percent from 2016. The majority of cases involved the sex trade. The increase is blamed on the state's opioid addiction crisis. But the number of arrests and convictions decreased.
