An estimated one-dozen people held a demonstration outside of the Columbus offices of Republican U.S. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio yesterday, protesting his stance on gun laws.
The protestors say Portman's pro-gun stance is influenced by the more than 3 million dollars in campaign contributions he has accepted from the National Rifle Association. That puts him in the top ten among members of Congress. The protestors say Portman should donate that money to victims of gun violence. Portman's office says he supports Second Amendment rights but believes in strengthening the national background check system and working to keep guns out of the hands of criminals.
