Ohio Man Sentenced In Bribery Scheme At U.S. Army Facility

ricelawmd.com

A former U.S. Army official has been sentenced to six years in federal prison for accepting bribes related to contracting at the U.S. Army Communications-Electronics Command at Aberdeen Proving Ground in Maryland.

44-year-old John Kays must submit  more than 631 thousand dollars and pay  more than 880 thousand in restitution. Kays' 43-year-old wife Danielle  is serving an 18-month sentence after pleading guilty for her role in the scheme. A third defendant, 44-year-old Matthew Barrow of Toledo, also pleaded guilty and is awaiting sentencing.  Prosecutors say the Kays used their leadership positions as civilian Army employees to steer 21 million dollars in subcontracts to Barrow in exchange for payments from him.
