Automated Warning System Warned Pilot Prior To Plane Crash That Killed Six Locals

The National Transportation Safety Board says the plane that crashed into Lake Erie off Cleveland in 2016, killing all six central Ohioans onboard, issued multiple warnings about altitude.

The plane piloted by beverage executive John Fleming crashed shortly after takeoff. Fleming's wife, two teenage sons and two family friends were also killed.   The NTSB report says the plane's enhanced ground proximity warning system gave numerous alerts to pull up followed by a warning it was traveling too fast. An official report on the cause of the crash will be issued at a later date.
