State Updates Voter Purging Process
Republican Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted says he's making extra efforts to help voters remain registered, after the U.S. Supreme Court upheld the state's voter roll purging process.
The candidate for lieutenant governor says no registrations will be canceled before the November election, but a process flagging inactive voters for future removal is resuming. Husted directed county boards of election to send additional notices to voters before they're removed from the rolls. Notices must be mailed to voters by August 6th. He's also made activity at the Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles count under maintenance rules. His website also will be updated so the confirmation status of a voter's registration appears. And his office will mail voters a notice 30 to 45 days before their name is purged.
