Crestline Police Chief Resigns Amid Misconduct Allegations

Village of Crestline

Crestline police chief Joe Butler resigned Monday, hours before the holding of a city council meeting where he was expected to respond to dereliction of duty and other allegations.

An internal investigation found Butler recorded videos of conversations with people while off duty, including some council members. The probe also found several other instances of misconduct. He was placed on leave. Butler calls it an involuntary resignation. A search for a successor is underway.
