Liberty Township Trustees Appoint New Medical Director, Fail To Act On Proposed Services Merger

health.usnews.com

Liberty Township Trustees last night declined to hold a vote on a measure to merge township services with Delaware County.

If adopted, it would mean the elimination of 30 jobs in the township fire department. Public debate on the issue has been contentious, resulting in the dismissal of township medical director Warren Yamarick, who opposed the merger. Trustees last night named Delaware County medical director Ashish Panchal as his successor after trustees formally chose not to renew his contract. Yamarick filed a federal lawsuit claiming his first amendment rights were violated when he wasn't allowed to speak at a previous meeting.
