A new wrongful-death lawsuit alleges a Mount Carmel Hospital patient was given a lethal painkiller overdose weeks after concerns were raised about the doctor who ordered the medication.
It's the ninth lawsuit against Mount Carmel, the now-fired William Husel, and pharmacists and nurses accused of wrongly approving and administering the drugs to dozens of patients over a three year period. The hospital has acknowledged Husel continued to work for weeks after concern was raised in October. Three patients died during that span. One was 75-year-old Rebecca Walls of Columbus, whose death prompted the lawsuit.
