Portman Doesn't Buy Claims Ukraine Interfered In 2016 Presidential Election

Many U.S. House Republicans, including Ohio's Jim Jordan, have wrongfully claimed that Ukraine, not Russia, interfered in the 2016 presidential election.

Those claims have been debunked by the American intelligence community. Republican U.S. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio has been pushing for aid to Ukraine since 2014. He told reporters on a conference call this week he isn't convinced Ukraine was involved:

Portman has worked with Ukraine to help separate itself from Russia. He believes Ukraine is serious about embracing democracy and would not have interfered with the election.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
