Local Leaders Outline Eviction Reform Efforts

During a Wednesday press event, Columbus and Franklin County leaders unveiled actions taken to prevent evictions. 

They include plans by the court system to limit online access to a person's eviction history to three years. Franklin County Municipal Court Clerk Lori Tyack:

Officials are also hiring more staff to help litigants and enacting measures to prevent retaliatory evictions from landlords.  Columbus Mayor Andy Ginther says these steps will help lower income residents atttempting to find safe and affordable housing:

The city says a Princeton University study ranked Columbus 52nd in the nation for eviction rates in 2016. The rate currently stands at 2.25 percent
