A group of bars and restaurants that successfully blocked Columbus' order restricting their operating hours due to rising COVID-19 cases plans to seek similar relief in the courts today. An attorney for the group plans to file a lawsuit after the Ohio Liquor Control Commission on Friday ordered bars and restaurants stop serving alcohol after 10 pm. Columbus leads the state in COVID-19 cases and deaths, and cases have been rising statewide. State officials say cases are increasing among young people in small gatherings, such as in bars and restaurants. A judge blocked Columbus' order last week, saying it unfairly singles out the establishments. Bar and restaurant owners say the state is doing the same thing, and a 10pm curfew causes significant harm to their businesses.

Four Northeast Ohio establishments are facing penalties for violating the state's alcohol curfew. Over the weekend, Captiv8 Potato Bar, A Touch of Italy, and Secrets Gentlemen's Club in Cleveland, along with Floods Restaurant in Warrensville Heights, were all cited for violating the state order to stop serving alcohol at 10 pm to help slow the spread of COVID-19.  The cases will go before the Ohio Liquor Control Commission, which could either suspend or revoke their liquor licenses.
