FirstEnergy Won't Collect "Decoupling Fee"

Republican Ohio Attorney General David Yost says Akron-based FirstEnergy has agreed in a settlement to forgo collection of a decoupling fee tacked onto consumer bills under the now-tainted nuclear power plant bailout bill. The fee guarantees the company a profit. Yost's office sued FirstEnergy in January to stop collection of the subsidy. A Franklin County judge granted a temporary injunction last year blocking the collection of subsidies from Ohio consumers under the law.
