Columbus City Council last night approved Department of Public Safety recommendations to object to the renewal of liquor licenses for six local carryouts.
The department says A&B Market, Livingston Market and Convenient Plus Food Market on Livingston Avenue, a Whittier Street carryout, aFrebis Avenue carryout and a South High Street carryout are hubs for various criminal activities. But in a rare move, Council did not approve a simialr request for the XO Nightclub on East Long Street. No reason was given.
Council also approved spending 1.5 million dollars to help build a parking garage on the Scioto Penisula. It will be part of a mixed-use development.
Council also approved creating a Downtown Redevelopment District to fund turing the historic Trolley Barn site on the Near East Side into a mixed-use development. The developer's attorney is former Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman.
