A northeastern Ohio judge has issued an injunction blocking the state health department's order closing gyms and fitness centers.
Lake County Court Judge Eugene Lucci ruled today in a case brought by local gyms challenging Dr. Amy Acton's March 22 order shutting down gyms and fitness centers as nonessential businesses. Gym owners argued Acton exceeded her authority.
The injunction allows gyms to reopen if they can comply with safety requirements while the lawsuit against Acton proceeds.
Under the governor's reopening plan gyms were slated to open May 26.
