Starting Monday, Ohio State Wexner Medical Center will begin handing out thousands of community care kits in areas at greater risk for contracting the coronavirus.
The kits contain isolation masks, hand sanitizer, soap and dental care items as well as educational material on how to stay safe during the pandemic.
Residents in the target areas are particularly vulnerable because of low income, multi-generational homes, and high rates of the underlying health conditions like hypertension, obesity and diabetes.
OSU is partnering with Columbus police and public health, Franklin County Public Health and the National African American Male Wellness Initiative. The Community Care Coach will distribute the kits all next week, beginning Monday at OSU Hospital East.
