Portman, Wenstrup And Other Ohio Congress Members Uninjured Following Virginia Train Crash

Associated Press

Republican U.S. Senator Rob Portman of Ohio says he was not hurt Wednesday when the chartered Amtrack train carrying him and other GOP lawmakers to a policy retreat in West Virginia hit a garbage truck south of Charlottesville, Virginia.

One garbage truck worker was killed and another was seriously injured. Ohio Republican Congressman Brad Wenstrup also escaped injury.

Other Ohio Congress members who were on board and escaped injury include Steve Chabot and Jim Jordan. The National Transportation Safety Board is investigating the crash and why the truck was on the tracks.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
