State Rejects Petitions To Add Autism, Anxiety To Medical Marijuana Qualifying List

Sep 12, 2019

The state Medical Board has rejected petitions seeking to add anxiety and autism spectrum disorders as qualifying conditions for medical marijuana patients.

A board committee last month recommended against approving the petitions, saying marijuana could cause panic attacks and questioning its effects on children's developing brains. The board could reconsider if new studies or petitions are submitted. 10 states allow medical marijuana for anxiety and 22 allow it for autism.
