The village of Elmwood Place has lost its bid to stop a judge from enforcing his ban on the use of traffic cameras to catch speeders while that order is appealed. The Ohio Supreme Court has denied a request seeking to stop a Hamilton County judge from enforcing his order. Judge Robert Ruehlman also ordered sheriff's deputies to confiscate the cameras. The village has become a focal point for a debate about traffic cameras. Thousands of people got ticketed within a few months, leading to the lawsuit that resulted in Ruehlman's order.
