Another JobsOhio Legal Challenge

An attorney who played a leading role in a legal challenge of Governor John Kasich's private job-creation entity has filed her own constitutional challenge against JobsOhio with the state Supreme Court. Former ProgressOhio attorney Victoria Ullmann's challenge asks the justices to declare JobsOhio a state agency because it acts as the "functional equivalent" of one under the law. Such a ruling would open JobsOhio to public records requests and other forms of scrutiny that Republican lawmakers blocked under its enabling legislation. The justices in April rejected Ullmann's attempt to retain a leading role in the challenge brought by ProgressOhio and two Democratic state lawmakers. She and the progressive think tank parted ways in a dispute over legal strategy.
