Arbitrator Orders Reinstatement Of Fired Cop Involved In Fatal Chase

Cleveland city officials plan to appeal an arbitrator's decision restoring the job of a police supervisor fired for his role in a November 2012 chase that ended with two unarmed African-American suspects dying in a hail of 137 bullets. The decision also gives Michael Donegan back pay dating back to his firing last year. Two supervisors demoted for their roles in the chase will be returned to their original ranks in July. Donegan is one of five supervisors charged last month with misdemeanor dereliction of duty for failing to control the chase.
