Coleman Appoints New Fire Chief

Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman has appointed a man with over a quarter century of experience to lead the Columbus Division of Fire. Assistant chief Kevin O'Connor will take over for retiring chief Gregory Paxton, and will become the 24th fire chief in the city's history. The city says O'Connor was hired over two other assistant chiefs and Deputy Chief Richard Ballard.  O'Connor has been running the training branch of the division.
