Interim Cincinnati Police Chief Recommended To Get Job Permanently

City of Cincinnati

Cincinnati City Manager Harry Black recommends naming the interim police chief as the person to permanently take over for the fired Jeff Blackwell. Eliot Isaac appeared before the city council law and public safety committee Monday, and held private meetings with other community groups. Isaac was named acting chief in September. The police union leader says Isaac has the department's support.  A survey conducted by the city found people want the new chief to emphasize department morale and community policing. They also preferred a chief from within the department, unlike the last two chiefs. Blackwell is a former Columbus police sergeant. Black says he was fired because of a toxic work environment and poor leadership.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
