State Finds Evidence Of Discrimination At Ohio UPS Facility

The Ohio Civil Rights Commission says it has found evidence to support 25 complaints that United Parcel Service engaged in illegal discriminatory practices at a Maumee distribution center last year. A number of UPS employees filed complaints with the commission after two nooses were found hanging in the building. The commission's report, obtained by the Toledo Blade through a public records request, says the UPS hub has been "permeated" with racially charged comments and incidents since 2013 to include displays of Confederate flags, racially offensive text messages and "overtly hostile comments." The company has been ordered to create the position of equal employment officer. UPS has asked the commission to have a neutral employee from the agency review evidence in the case.
