Jury Recommends Life Sentence For Convicted Columbus Cop Killer

A Franklin County jury has recommended life in prison without parole for the man convicted of fatally shooting a Columbus SWAT officer during a standoff last year. 45-year-old Lincoln Rutledge killed Steven Smith as officers were trying to serve an arson warrant . Rutledge's attorneys argued he has mental health issues that affected his actions during the standoff. Sentencing is scheduled for July 18.
