Edith Espinal's Husband Also Facing Deportation

cleveland.com

Columbus clergy are helping a local resident stay in the United States.

Manuel Gonzalez was joined by several ministers yesterday in Cleveland as he checked in with immigration agents.  Gonzalez is pursuing asylum, claiming he left his native Mexico to escape a drug cartel.  His wife, Edith Espinal, has taken sanctuary in a Columbus church to avoid deportation.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
