The city council in the Summit County town of Green last night approved a settlement with developers of the Nexus natural gas pipeline.
The agreement calls for a 7.5 million dollar payout in exchange for the city dropping lawsuits to block construction. Energy Transfer Partners would also donate park land to the city and monitor the pipeline around the clock for problems. City Law Director Diane Calta says the deal is the product of circumstance.
The city has been trying since last spring to force the builders to modify the pipeline's route.
