Columbus police officials say the officer involved in a fatal shooting on August 23 is also the subject of a criminal investigation.
Police officials and the mayor's office have declined to state the nature of the criminal probe involving Andrew Mitchell, who killed 23-year-old Donna Castleberry on the west side after police say she stabbed his hand. That shooting remains under investigation and Mitchell is off-duty. Officials say in a news release the criminal probe follows a complaint made by a citizen prior to the shooting. Police investigators are trying to determine if there is a link between the shooting and the nature of the complaint.
