State Treasurer Candidate Says Divest From For-Profit Prisons

daytondailynews.com

Democratic state treasurer candidate Rob Richardson says he'd use the office to encourage a shift away from incarceration-for-profit.

Richardson says promoting civil rights as treasurer includes encouraging divestment from for-profit prisons and conducting a detailed cost analysis of Ohio's criminal justice system. His Republican opponent, Robert Sprague, calls Richardson's plan an overreach. Richardson is the only African-American candidate on Ohio's November ballot.
