Coroner Rules Case Of Woman Killed By Columbus Cop A Homicide

The Franklin County coroner's office has ruled the case of the woman shot and killed by an undercover Columbus police officer this year as a homicide.

23-year-old Donna Castleberry died of a gunshot wound to the chest. She was shot by Andrew Mitchell during a prostitution sting on the west side after police say she attacked Mitchell with a knife. The coroner's report says Castleberry was shot three times and had cocaine and fentanyl in her system. Mitchell is the focus of a separate criminal investigation, and has been relieved of duty.

Jim has been with WCBE since 1996. Before that he worked as a reporter at another Columbus radio station, and for three newspapers in Southwest Florida.
