Proposed State Transportation Bill Removes Requirement For Front License Plate

WCBE files

The requirement to display a front and rear license plate in Ohio is being eliminated in a new transportation bill under debate at the Statehouse.

Lawmakers have made several changes to Governor Mike DeWine's transportation budget proposal, including requiring vehicles to have a front plate. They say it would save the state over two-million dollars annually.  The plan has been floated in the past but has gone nowhere in the legislature. Also included in the bhill is a provision allowing local governments to charge up to five additional dollars for vehicle registrations.
