Columbus Schools Again Get Poor Grade On State Report Cards

Columbus City Schools will receive a "D" on the latest state report card, according to preliminary data from the Ohio Department of Education.

Last year the district got an "F" grade. But narrowing of the performance gap between students of different races and economic groups, and a 4 percent increase in the graduation rate brought up the overall score. And it provides some insulation from the threat of a state takeover.  District officials say improvements in the 2019 graduation rate should raise that portion of the overall grade higher, but also say the district will continue to work on all measures of success, including achievement, progress and K-12 literacy.
