The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission says central Ohio traffic deaths have risen by nearly 30 percent since 2013.
Its new report shows pedestrian fatalities rose by 60 percent, and accounted for 12 percent of serious injuries and fatalities. The increases are due in part to the region's growing population, as well as alcohol, drugs and speeding. Last year, Franklin County had the most traffic fatalities of any in the state, according to figures from the Ohio Department of Transportation.
