A Bellefontaine woman was sentenced today in the suffocation death of her three sons.
27-year old Brittany Pilkington pleaded guilty to two counts of murder and one count of involuntary murder in the deaths of Niall, Gavin and Noah. Judge Mark S. O'Connor sentenced her to life in prison. She will not be eligible for parole until 2056.
Pilkington conffessed to smothering the children because she was jealous of the the attention in her husband paid to the boys. Defense attorneys raised the issue of her mental diability and history of her sexual abuse as defense that she had reduced appreciation of her crimes. Her husband Joe Pilkington was charged with sexual battery for having sex with her when she was underage, and pled guilty to sexual imposition in 2016.
