A Cuyahoga County Jail inmate was beaten to death Monday night by another inmate following an altercation.
48-year-old Shane Trawick was killed. It's not clear if the other inmate was injured. That person's name has not been released. Cleveland police are investigating the third inmate death at the jail this year. The U.S. Marshals Service has called jail conditions inhumane. The Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction ended monthly oversight inspections of the jail in late October. Trawick was held at the facility for three weeks on a misdemeanor assault charge. The union representing jail guards says the attack happened during shift change.
