Centennial Student Allegedly Brought Loaded Handgun To School

Columbus police say a Centennial High School student has been charged, after a loaded handgun was allegedly found in a backpack this morning.

School security staff received a tip the 15-year old had brought the gun to school and alerted police, who took the student into custody in the school. Police say the gun was loaded with 29 rounds.

The teen has been charged with carrying a concealed weapon and possessing a gun in a school zone. Columbus City Schools says students found with weapons on school grounds will face disciplinary action, including possible suspension or expulsion.

On Friday morning a 17-year old student allegedly brought a loaded semi automatic and ammunition to Mifflin High School.

A native of Chicago, naturalized citizen of Cincinnati and resident of Columbus, Alison attended Earlham College and the Ohio State University. She has equal passion for Midwest history, hockey and Slavic poetry.
