A class action lawsuit has been filed against Columbia Gas and its parent company NiSource on behalf of residents north of Boston, Massachusetts impacted by last week's natural gas explosions.
The more than eighty blasts killed one person and injured more than two-dozen others. The suit seeks compensatory damages for residents forced to evacuate but who did not sustain injuries or damage to their homes. And the National Transportation Safety Board is investigating NiSource for it's role in the blasts. The feds blame them on a gas line with pressure 12 times higher than it should have been. Columbia Gas of Massachusetts oversees the line. NiSource has been linked to three previous gas line bursts in the area. NiSource spokesperson Ken Stammen says the firm will comply with the investigation.
The NTSB says there is no target date to complete the investigation.
